sorry this is long but i need to get it out. i have been seeing this guy for about nine months now and it just feels like we are stuck. we see each other every single weekend (usually saturday morning until sunday night) but we barely speak during the week apart from a few memes or links on social media. last night i asked him if he wanted to go to my sisters birthday dinner next month. he went really quiet and then said he would have to check his calendar. he never checked it. he just changed the subject to a movie he was watching. i feel like i am waiting for him to pick me but he just keeps me in this spot where we are close enough to hold hands but he acts like i am a stranger if we are in public. i dont want to be pushy but honestly it is exhausting. i just wanted to know if he would go with me. he didnt say no, but he didnt say yes, so now i have to wait again (tbh i am probably going to go alone). anyway i just wanted to vent because i feel stupid for asking.

hold on, he never checked the calendar at all? did he just leave you sat there in silence while he put the film on, or did he actually say something else about it later?

tbh you sound a bit intense asking him to a family event after nine months of casual dating. he clearly wants a bit of space, you are being a bit unfair pressuring him like that.
