- this made me cry. it hits so hard because my ex and i were the same. he wanted to retire early in the countryside and i was just hitting my stride in my career. we tried to bridge the gap for two years but the resentment just ate us alive. honestly, sometimes love really isnt enough to change the path you are on.

- tbh i think you are being a bit cold. the bloke just wants to enjoy his twilight years with his partner, not on his own. its a bit selfish to expect him to just sit around for 12 years while you do your own thing.
